Recently, we were invited along to give a presentation to the Osteoporosis Society Support Group. We set up and delivered a bespoke presentation to the attendees ensuring we made it relevant to their condition and offered a free foot health check to all. We spent a lovely afternoon providing foot health care education, offering tips for self help as well as answering any particular questions or concerns the members had.
This week Jo Shapter has been away looking at the microbiological implications affecting our feet. It was an intensive week away but well worth it and she returns with a wealth of knowledge to aid our work.
Jo took swabs from her own feet and the surrounding environment and incubated them for 48 hours after transferring the swabs onto Agar plates. Below are some images of what she found under the microscope! Through these important sessions we have been able to pledge to become antibiotic guardians.

The Folkestone Herald visited us whilst we were running one of our FREE clinics for the homeless and vulnerable at the Salvation army hall in Folkestone.
We are proud to attend regularly to look after the feet of those without the means to look after their own.
The clinic is completely free to the service users and we are proud to be working alongside Pam Jones and her team to be providing this in addition to the services which she and her army of volunteers strive to provide for people in these vulnerable positions.
Our service runs on the generosity of others Samson hosiery were kind enough to donate 100 pairs of socks to our cause as well as the general public making donations so as we can fund supplies to continue to provide the service.

Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats facing us today.
Why it is relevant to you: without effective antibiotics many routine treatments will become increasingly dangerous. Setting broken bones, basic operations, even chemotherapy and animal health all rely on access to antibiotics that work.
To slow resistance we need to cut the unnecessary use of antibiotics.
Antibiotic Guardian supports the UK Antimicrobial Resistance strategy, European Antibiotic Awareness Day (18 November) and World Antibiotic Awareness Week (13-19 November 2017)

East Kent Foot Care working with Action for Homeless in Folkestone. Providing a Free Foot Health Clinic at the Salvation Army hall in Canterbury Road.
Very excited to be featured in the recent issue of the Hythe Life Community Interest Company magazine, with a piece about our work for the homeless community in our area. Last night we were at the Salvation Army hall on Canterbury Road where we offered our services to the local homeless in Shepway. We were able to treat a variety of foot health issues, as well giving out donations to all of the people we saw. We are pleased to be working alongside @Action for Homelessness in Folkestone who do an amazing job of helping people. Over the coming winter months we will be continuing to offer our time for free.
