Achilles Tendon

What is Achilles Tendon Pain?

Achilles tendon pain refers to discomfort or injury affecting the thick, fibrous tendon that connects your calf muscles to the back of your heel. This tendon plays a vital role in walking, running, and jumping by enabling movement of the foot, ankle, and knee. Pain in this area is often caused by degeneration or overload of the tendon, typically diagnosed as either mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy (affecting the central section of the tendon) or insertional Achilles tendinopathy (where the tendon attaches to the heel bone). Because many different conditions can affect the posterior heel, a precise diagnosis is essential to guide effective treatment. At East Kent Foot Care we use a range of treatment modalities whether your pain is due to overuse, biomechanical stress, or a previous injury, we’re here to help you recover and return to activity with confidence.
