Jo Shapter
Specialist Podiatrist
Jo identified a need in the community for a full, comprehensive and flexible Podiatry, Chiropody and Foot health care service for all. With this in mind Jo launched East Kent Foot Care in 2010 and with her passion, determination and drive East Kent Foot Care has gone from strength to strength. Jo initially graduated from Roehampton University with degree in Sports Science, she then went on to complete a level 4 university accredited diploma in Foot Health Care at the SMAE. She then attended the University of Brighton, graduating with a first-class honour in Podiatry. She won the Breakthrough Podiatrist prize, which was awarded by Siobhan Melia, chief executive of the Sussex community NHS foundation trust.
Helen Sharp
Specialist Podiatrist
Helen qualified with a BSc (hons) in Podiatry from the University of Brighton. She has spent a great deal of time working in a NHS Podiatry setting in Surrey trusts. Her areas of specialism are the complex needs of the high risk, vulnerable foot. She has a special interest in Diabetes and the high-risk foot.
Vicky Webster-Marley
Specialist Podiatrist
Vicky graduated with a first-class honour’s degree in Podiatry from the University of Brighton and joined the team in 2021. Her work covers care homes, domiciliary visits and clinic sessions encompassing her versatility and meeting the needs of a wide range of patients. Her specialist interest areas are Nail surgery and Extracorporeal Radial Shockwave therapy.
Sonia Stevens
Advanced Foot Health Practitioner
Having previously worked in a domiciliary environment, Sonia joined the team in April 2018 after completing her university accredited Foot health diploma from the SMAE Institute. Her passion and dedication to foot care, combined with her professional and caring attitude towards providing an exceptional service to our clients, makes her an invaluable additional asset to the team. In 2022 Sonia decided to take the opportunity to undertake further higher-level study and is in the process of becoming a degree qualified specialist podiatrist.
Sarah Harknett
Advanced Foot Health Practitioner
Sarah trained at the SMAE and joined us in September 2019 upon completion of her university accredited diploma in Foot Health. Sarah has a background in specialising with Dementia patients and supporting the elderly to live independent lives. Her bubbly personality and caring nature makes her a real asset to our ever-growing team. In 2022 Sarah has also taken the plunge to further her studies and is undertaking a BSc (hons) degree in Podiatry to extend her scope of practice.
Viki Duffield
Foot Health Practitioner
Viki joined the team in August 2016 after qualifying from the SMAE and has become a truly valuable asset. She has brought a wealth of knowledge with her as well as being a caring, dependable and hard-working practitioner providing a full and thorough foot care service to our clients both existing and new.
Gemma O’Connor
Foot Health Practitioner
Gemma trained at the SMAE and joined the team in August 2018. Prior to her work as a Foot Health Practitioner she worked within the care industry. Her vast experience in this sector has aided her transition to foot health and is reflected in her sensitive approach and caring demeanour.

jayne rhodes14 March 2024I had toenail surgery for an ingrown toenail on Friday with Jo, wonderful service, full explanation and questions answered. Appointment on time. The Evegate premises has lots of free parking very near the door. The staff were all very friendly. Jo also organised for me to collect an antibiotic prescription from my doctors when I was unable to get an appointment prior to my treatment. I had a follow up appointment after 48hrs and will have another one in a weeks time. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Bex Wilson2 February 2024After suffering with an ingrowing toe nail and not getting a appointment through the NHS for ages I decided to contact East Kent Foot Care and was the best decision I made. I got a appointment easily and from first contact I knew I was in safe hands. I had the ingrowing nail removed by Jo and was explained the procedure. I was so impressed with the after care and bag of supplies to ensure I kept my toe free from infection and optimum environment to heal easily. This was the best decision, so if you are not sure take it from me you won't regret it. Highly recommend

We are part of the ‘working to become dementia friendly in Kent’ scheme and have been involved for the last 3 years. We undergo annual reviews by panel at Kent County Council to continue to be a part of this scheme as well as all of our practitioners being involved with the dementia friend’s initiative.
Our Services
Our practitioners are trained and certified in all aspects of podiatry, chiropody and foot health care. Ranging from routine care to high-risk diabetic care, ingrown nail surgery and biomechanical visual and digital gait analysis.
Clinics
We have two clinics which have been specifically setup for our Podiatrist to offer a range of treatments and surgeries.
Home Visits
We are proud to offer a home visiting service to those patients not able to leave their homes to access our clinic services. These visits are for routine foot health care.
