Achilles Tendon Treatment in Kent
Achilles tendon pain refers to discomfort or injury affecting the thick, fibrous band that connects your calf muscles to the back of your heel. This tendon is the largest in the body and plays a vital role in walking, running, and jumping.
Common Types of Achilles Pain
Pain in this area is often caused by degeneration or sudden overload of the tendon. At East Kent Foot Care, we typically diagnose two main types:
- Mid-portion Achilles Tendinopathy: Affecting the central section of the tendon, often feeling like a “thickening” or sharp pain during movement.
- Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy: Located exactly where the tendon attaches to the heel bone. This often requires a different clinical approach than mid-portion pain.
