Corns on foot

What is a corn?

A corn is a small, thickened area of skin that develops in response to repeated pressure or friction—most commonly on the toes, soles, or sides of the feet. It forms as the body’s natural way of protecting underlying tissues, but over time, this hardened skin can press into deeper layers, causing pain and discomfort.

Common Causes of Corns

Corns often result from:

  • Ill-fitting footwear
  • Abnormal foot mechanics
  • Toe deformities that create concentrated pressure points

They may appear as hard, raised bumps with a central core, and can feel tender when walking or wearing shoes. Left untreated, corns can become increasingly painful and may lead to further skin breakdown or infection.

Our dedicated team of podiatrists will listen, assess and form a tailored management plan to create long term solutions to manage or eliminate your corns.
